Growing up in Bethesda, Maryland, Kiran’s South Asian household was always different from everyone else’s — full of color and celebration. With a Hindu father and Muslim mother, inclusivity was ingrained in her mindset from a young age.

When classmates would vacation in the Outer Banks and the Hamptons, she was off to Pakistan to spend time with her family. It was there that she fell in love with Eastern textiles — taking weekend classes at G-Street fabric where she learned to sew her own clothes. From a young age, she recognized the power of clothing to express her values and fell in love with the idea of clothing as a suit of armor, to take on the world and empower others.

Kiran attended ArtCenter College of Design where she took a textile making course and the first Wolven pieces were created. Bringing together her community of friends as models, photographers, and more, the seed for Wolven was planted. When Wolven began to take off on social media, she left school to pursue her business full time. While running Wolven, Kiran recently received her certificate from MIT Sloan + CSAIL in Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy.

Her mission was to bring the aesthetic of the east to the western yoga practice. As an animal lover, horseback rider, and vegan for 10+ years, Kiran’s values of mindfulness towards people and planet translated into Wolven’s sustainability mission.
